Dance Auditions

Are you dreaming of appearing on Broadway in a classical ballet production? Or are you shooting for the next Beyonce' video? Whatever your expertise or preference is, you have to know how to ace your dance auditions. No amount of worrying or fretting can help you. In fact, it may hurt you more than anything. A nervous dancer shows her lack of confidence with every move. How can you get through regiments of dance auditions if you are constantly a nervous wreck?

Some people may think that the best way to prepare for dance auditions is to drill and drill and practice for hours and hours over and over again, but this may not be the most productive approach. A few hours at least every week practicing relaxation techniques and learning how to psyche yourself up for any situation, not just dance auditions, can help you out tremendously.

A person who is running dance auditions all day long can immediately spot the difference between someone who is well trained technically, but is not completely comfortable with performing, and a person who may not be so well technically trained, but has a certain ease and flow about their dancing that shows their level of comfort with dance, and with performing in front of others under pressure. If a person is able to be themselves and relax at dance auditions, it is indicative of the fact that they will give a solid performance come opening night.
